I have added your blog to my bookmarks. I want to thank you for your comments on our citizenship and your comment on the memorial in Hopkinsville, KY. I would have sent an email but could not find an address. I am a gospel preacher who grew up in a church that believed this but find practically no one who does today, especially in Alabama where I live.

I wouldn’t say I’m done with them. Where we live there is a severe shortage of progressive Churches of Christ. The Christian Churches aren’t a lot more progressive but they’re an improvement.

I was glad to find your blog. It’s not often I run into someone from the Stone-Campbell Movement that has an interest in our past or even our theology!

I grew up in an ultra-conservative but mainline Church of Christ in Michigan, even went to one of their schools of preaching but I found I could no longer fit in when I learned about the grace of God.

I ended up in the independent Christian Churches as well. I too still feel a connection to the Churches of Christ even though I haven’t attended one in several years, even for a visit.

I hope you don’t mind, I’m going to add you to my blogroll. Your blog is definitely worth the read!

Josh,

While I have enjoyed more diversity in religion than any one person ought to be allowed I still feel longing for my roots in that fundamentalist non-institutional, anti-kitchen, no-eating-in-the-building-what-so-ever, F_A_M_I_L_Y. Man (and woman) is so messed up. We no longer need Satan to roam around like a hungry lion tearing the proud and weak to shreds, as we have done so on our own accord. I am thinking about taking a drive out to Estacada some Sunday AM… send me the addy in a email.

Hi Josh,

I was typing for about 10 minutes when my power went out and deleted my message. I’m not going to retype everything but, I do have a lot of info on the Izard County Arkansas Jeffery family. There is a book on the history of the family. I also have lots of pictures of the family. My father lived on the homestead during the depression. His name is Harvey Jeffery and he is the son of Hanley Jeffery who is the son of Ambrose Jeffery. Please send me an email if you want to talk or get more info.

Hi Josh,

It’s been a long time since we communicated. I hope you and your family are doing well.

Someone asked me today if I knew of any commentary (or even mention) by Carl Ketcherside on the Crossroads church in the 1960’s or early 1970’s. I haven’t found anything online, but I think I remember that you have a fairly extensive collection of his publications (or maybe my memory is confused again!) so maybe you might know of something. Perhaps he spoke at one of the Florida evangelism seminars, etc. I know it’s a long shot (and I might just be remembering wrong about the publication collection…)

Don’t turn this into a research project — but if you have that info readily accessible it would be helpful. Thanks!
