My name is Josh Jeffery. I am currently 29 years old. I am married and have a four year old son. Until recently we were members at the Southeast Church of Christ, where I was on the steering committee and board of trustees. We are currently visiting Stone-Campbell churches in the Portland Metro area looking for a new church home.
I work full-time as a Watershed Ranger, in charge of protecting 147 square miles of land closed by the Federal Government for protection of a large municipal water supply. I also volunteer my time as a firefighter with the local fire district.
To be quite honest, I’m tired of working in Law Enforcement. I’m in school part time, biding my time until we can afford to move to Nashville so that my wife and I can go back to school full time.
Want to know more? Just ask.

Josh,
is Southeast the old linwood?

Marcos:
It indeed is the old Linwood Church of Christ. The name was changed to disassociate ourselves with some of the very negative things that occurred there in the past.

have you made a Visit to the Oregon City church? If so I would like to get your impression of how it was…

I have been to Oregon City several times, but its been about two years since I’ve visited there last. People seemed pretty friendly, seemed like a nice church…. but it also helps that I have a friend who is a member there and I went to college with the youth minister.
They appear to be fairly conservative, but where exactly they are on the conservative - progressive scale I don’t really know. If we didn’t live 25 miles from OC I might consider taking a second look.

oc seems to be going down the change agent path… i found it interesting you found them conservative i would put them on the very liberal side…
but if you know the youth minister that would come as no surprise to you…

I’ve not been there in a long time, so I don’t know exactly where they are at.
But, I had to laugh at that last comment, because I am one of the so-called “Change Agents.”

Hi Josh,
It’s been a long time since we communicated. I hope you and your family are doing well.
Someone asked me today if I knew of any commentary (or even mention) by Carl Ketcherside on the Crossroads church in the 1960’s or early 1970’s. I haven’t found anything online, but I think I remember that you have a fairly extensive collection of his publications (or maybe my memory is confused again!) so maybe you might know of something. Perhaps he spoke at one of the Florida evangelism seminars, etc. I know it’s a long shot (and I might just be remembering wrong about the publication collection…)
Don’t turn this into a research project — but if you have that info readily accessible it would be helpful. Thanks!
Alan

Hi Josh,
I was typing for about 10 minutes when my power went out and deleted my message. I’m not going to retype everything but, I do have a lot of info on the Izard County Arkansas Jeffery family. There is a book on the history of the family. I also have lots of pictures of the family. My father lived on the homestead during the depression. His name is Harvey Jeffery and he is the son of Hanley Jeffery who is the son of Ambrose Jeffery. Please send me an email if you want to talk or get more info.
Thanks,
MaryAnn Jeffery

Josh:
Thanks so much for your work on the Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement directory. This has been sorely needed–a place for all our links.
Do you know about World Convention? Let me know when you move to Nashville or come to visit.

I have added your blog to my bookmarks. I want to thank you for your comments on our citizenship and your comment on the memorial in Hopkinsville, KY. I would have sent an email but could not find an address. I am a gospel preacher who grew up in a church that believed this but find practically no one who does today, especially in Alabama where I live.
